Mission
CALI is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the assisted living
community by fostering innovationsin housing, work and recreational
environments, transportation and carethat incorporate advanced
technologies in tandem with enlightened practices and policies.
Vision
CALI will serve as the epicenter of a vibrant community of interest in
assisted living, conducting and facilitating research, advocacy, education, and
solution-focused business development.
As part of this vision, CALI will establish an assisted living information
repository and clearinghouse, and develop a comprehensive, integrated standards
and certification framework for assistive environments, products, services, and
practices.
One of CALI's strategic goals is to become an internationally recognized
authority in evaluating the quality and efficacy of Assisted Living products,
services, and practices (no such authority currently exists). To accomplish
this, CALI will create--as we develop domain expertise through our own and
affiliated research and through associations with industry leaders and other
authorities in health and safety standards and testing--an AL Product and
Services Standards and Certification System.
Two prominent standards and testing authorities have expressed an interest in
working with CALI:
American Society for Testing and Materials
(ASTM)
American National Standards Institute
(ANSI)
As this strategy develops, the certification page of the CALI website will
list further information on AL standards, training, and certification programs
and procedures.
